Capitol Hill Block Party Looks to 2022 for Next Big Fest

Capitol Hill Block Party will sit this one out in 2021

Time has run out on Capitol Hill Block Party to properly plan for its annual three-day music. It’s not for a lack of trying

Organizers of the Capitol Hill Block Party have always had their eye on 2021. After they had to shutter the fest in 2020 due to the pandemic, there was optimism a one-year hiatus would be it. That they would once again open the Pike/Pine corridor in 2021 to throngs of music fans.

In fact, they had already set the 2021 dates for July 23-25.

Yes, Gov. Inslee announced that the state would have a June 30 reopening date. But for large scale summer fests, that brings little consolation and too little time to plan. Especially for those, like CHBP, slated for July.

Acts need to be booked, permits need to be issued, and volunteers need to be recruited.

So, CHBP has made their decision official – no Capitol Hill Block Party in 2021.

Lizzo at CHBP in 2019 seems like forever ago.

Not the news many of us were hoping to hear. But we are still dealing with a pandemic and uncertainty still hangs in the air.

That said, CHBP 2022 is sure to be one for the books.

In the meantime, CHBP just announced some live shows they are presenting later this year. This should take some of the sting out of another year without Capitol Hill’s mainstay music and arts festival.
