Burger Month Kicks off at Li’l Woody’s
It’s Burger Month once again in Seattle thanks to Li’l Woody’s.
Once a year, Li’l Woody’s teams up with some high-flying chefs to celebrate the humble hamburger. But, these days, burgers are anything but humble.
The set-up is classic. Four featured burgers, by four renowned chefs, all over four glorious, juicy weeks.
Chef Brady Williams – Canlis
It all kicks off this week with the “Good Old Burger” created by Chef Brady Williams of Canlis fame. Before Williams took the helm as Executive Chef at Canlis, he was the Executive Sous Chef at Roberta’s and the two-Michelin-starred Blanca in Brooklyn.
Canlis is known for its fine dining, and Williams does not disappoint with his take on a classic burger. A 28-day dry-aged grilled beef patty sits at the base of this creation. Yubeshi onions pack a piquant punch, while the American cheese, pickles, lettuce and fry sauce brings this burger home.
Is it any wonder that in 2019, Williams took home a James Beard Award for Best Chef: Northwest?
The Brady William’s inspired burger at Li’l Woody’s is available February 4 – February 10.
Chef Eric Rivera – Addo
Next up on the burger roster is Eric Rivera of Addo. Fans of Rivera have been enjoying his tasting menu at Addo. Rivera spent a three-plus year stint at acclaimed restaurant Alinea, so he knows a thing or two about tasting menus.
But, if you’re not one of the lucky guests to have yet experience his 12-course tasting, you can get your Rivera fix at Li’l Woody’s.
Rivera’s take on the burger reflects his Puerto Rican heritage. His “Boricua Burger” consists of two Picadillo Smash beef patties with Sazon seasoning. He adds a special sauce, plantain chips and stewed onions, all in between a Pac Northwest Franz bun.
The Eric Rivera inspired burger at Li’l Woody’s is available February 11 – February 17.
Chef Logan Cox – Homer
There’s a reason Homer is the darling of Beacon Hill. Logan Cox is the Chef/Owner and his culinary skills are on full display. In short time, Cox has earned a treasure trove of accolades including one of the Best New Restaurants of 2019 from GQ magazine.
If you want to know what inspires Cox at Homer, look no further than his featured burger. As he describes it, “It’s as if Homer and Li’l Woody’s came together and created a perfect hybrid! Hence the name The Homersapien.”
The Homersapien consists of a 1/3 lb. lamb patty with some pretty impressive toppings. Date ketchup, Za’atar-spiced Tim’s Potato Chips, chanterelle mushrooms, Port Salut cheese all come together under a Nigella seeded bun.
The Logan Cox inspired burger at Li’l Woody’s is available February 18 – February 24.
Chef Elizabeth Kenyon – Manolin
Rounding out Burger Month at Li’l Woody’s is Elizabeth Kenyon of Manolin. Pulling from her Montana roots, Kenyon has created a burger that forgoes ground chuck for pork cutlet. But, with Kenyon’s culinary training, you can be guaranteed that this is no run of the mill pork cutlet sandwich.
Indeed, the “Manolin Sandwich” is a hearty piece of breaded pork tenderloin cutlet. But, Kenyon adds aji amarillo aioli, pickled red onions, chimichurri and sliced radishes on a classic sesame seeded bun.
Part Montana, part Peruvian, the Manolin Sandwich is the perfect way to cap off your month of burgers. And, if you’re still hungry afterward, you can check out some of Kenyon’s Sri Lankan and Indian Inspired fare at Bar Rupee in Ballard where she also leads that kitchen.
The Elizabeth Kenyon inspired burger at Li’l Woody’s is available February 26 – March 4.
You can find these weekly featured burgers at all Li’l Woody’s locations. If you purchase all four of the burgers during the month you can receive a limited-edition, Lil Woody’s beanie. Stamp cards are available from any location and may be redeemed for the beanie at the end of the event.
