If you think you’ve seen all that Chihuly Garden and Glass has to offer, think again. During Chihuly Nights, running now to May 18, Dale Chihuly’s iconic glass art transforms under Seattle’s iconic sunsets, which may just make familiar pieces feel brand new.

Having visited Chihuly Garden and Glass on numerous occasions, I thought I knew what to expect. But walking through the Glasshouse as the sun started to set brought new light to the red, yellow, and orange sculptures displayed in the 40-foot tall glass and steel structure. Outside, just a stones throw from the Space Needle, the Pacific Sun installation was a focal point that popped with color while casting dramatic shadows throughout the garden.

Take in the art and unwind in the garden during the golden hour with a glass of wine and a flatbread-style pizza, fresh from the Neapolitan brick oven. The night we were there, we enjoyed a special PNW pizza with assorted mushrooms, garlic cream sauce, parmesan, topped with white truffle oil. It was a perfect cap to the evening. And depending on the night, there’s even more to enjoy. Special programs like Dancing in the Glasshouse: West Coast Swing (May 13) invite guests to watch or join in on the fun—no advanced sign-up required, just upgrade your ticket on-site.

Perfect Timing

To catch Chihuly Nights in all of its glory, plan your visit around sunset—typically between 8:25PM and 8:45PM during the event’s run. The best viewing begins after 7:30PM, when the glass begins to work its magic with the setting sun.

Chihuly Nights is included with all standard tickets—whether general admission, combo passes with the Space Needle, or CityPASS. There is also discounted pricing after 5PM daily.

So if you’ve only seen Chihuly by daylight, now’s your chance to see it shine in a whole new light—literally.
