If the only acts you have circled are Turnstile, Death Cab for Cutie and Chase & Status, you like your music big, fast and loud, preferably with plenty of strobes and maybe some pyrotechnics. Your past purchases on Ticketmaster read like a who’s who of the rock and EDM world. For you, it’s the biggest bands out there or bust. And that’s OK. They’re not called headliners for nothing.

The Hometown Booster

You wear your Pacific Northwest heart proudly on your sleeve. You’ve circled Travis Thompson, Oblé Reed, Suzzallo and Aryana León on your Bumbershoot schedule. You probably saw some of them before they were even old enough to play bars. Now they’re playing bigger rooms, and here’s your chance to get to see what they can do on a Bumbershoot stage. You’ll be able to say, “I knew them when…”

The Indie Auteur 

If the names Jean-Luc Godard and François Truffaut easily roll off your tongue in conversation, you’ve probably marked VIDEORAMA as a must. When you’re not catching the latest film at SIFF, you’re probably watching a French New Wave retrospective at The Beacon or Grand Illusion. There’s plenty to choose from at Bumbershoot, but make sure you check out Scope Screenings and the Seattle 48 Hour Film Project. Fade out. Roll credits.

The Thrill Seeker

Your marker went straight to the Recess District. Sure, you like music, but you can’t resist watching skaters getting air on the half pipe or wrestlers climbing onto the ropes before delivering a flying elbow drop à la Randy “Macho Man” Savage. Skate Like a Girl and Dope Planet have you covered on the vert, while SOS Pro Wrestling brings the body slams.

The Foodie

You’ve probably eaten at most of the restaurants on Bumbershoot’s culinary lineup, know some of the chefs by their first name and can tell us who has been a James Beard finalist. Your go-to at Bumbershoot is the food vendors, and for good reason. This year’s lineup is dialed. Communion, Lennox, Restaurant Homer, The Chicken Supply and plenty of others will have you reaching for your phone for an IG post before you even pick up your fork. Pro tip: Jack’s BBQ is back with its Bumbershoot-exclusive Mac Bowls. Happy eating.

The Completist

These are our favorite kind of Bumbershoot fans. Ninety percent of your schedule is circled and there’s no way you’re going to experience all of it. But you don’t care. Nothing is going to stand in your way. Well, except several thousand people between you and your next act at the Mural Stage. You’ll hit all of the venues: music, comedy, magic, and everything in between. In the end that’s the way to do Bumbershoot. All in.
