Volunteer and Score Free Bumbershoot Tickets by Giving Back

With the return of Bumbershoot Arts & Music Festival just around the corner, here’s a chance to take it all in and at the same time be part of something bigger than the music. Through the second annual Bumbershoot Gives Back, Powered by Amazon, volunteers can earn a free weekend pass to the festival, which takes over the Seattle Center grounds August 30 – 31, by helping fight food insecurity in the region.
Launched on July 25 with an event at Rainier Beach Urban Farm & Wetlands, this year’s initiative kicked off with volunteers joined by fest organizers, local electeds, and leaders from local nonprofit Tilth Alliance gathering and packaging food for Seattleites in need.
The real meat of the program is in its partnerships. Fourteen local orgs—from the Pike Market Senior Center to Teen Feed to the CID Food Bank—are signed on. Together, they’re aiming to distribute more than 15,000 meals to people who need them before the festival gates even open. And in exchange, up to 2,000 volunteers will get a free two-day pass to Bumbershoot.
Swap a few hours of work that actually helps people for a weekend of art, music, and sensory overload. It’s not a bad trade. You help feed your neighbors, and then you get to dance it all out under the Space Needle.
