Taste of Iceland Takes Over Seattle with Food, Music and Film
October brings its usual nip in the air to Seattle, which suits Taste of Iceland just fine. Making its yearly jaunt to Seattle, Iceland Naturally is bringing the ‘best of the best’ in Icelandic brands to show off during a 10-day take-over.
The festivities fittingly kick-off at the newly minted National Nordic Museum on October 11.
If you have ever considered a trip to Iceland, this festival should seal the deal. With plenty of food, music, film and other cultural experiences, this Icelandic push will have you booking your flight to Reykjavik in no time.
A winning invitation
Better yet, you can win a 10-day trip to Iceland. Celebrating 10 years flying Seattleites to and fro, Icelandair is celebrating with 10 days of prizes.
Win one of the daily prizes and you’ll have a chance at winning the trip to Iceland. It does, of course, involve social media. You can find all of the details, hashtags and social love requirements here.
The Icelandic focused menu at Cuoco, a perennial favorite, is also back. This year, Icelandic chef Georg Arnar Halldorsson teams up with Ron Anderson of Cuoco to create the perfect Icelandic dinner.
A snapshot of the menu reveals a four-course evening of arctic char with Icelandic wasabi, fillet of cod, Icelandic lamb eye of loin, and Skyr (a yogurt-like staple for Icelanders for nearly 1,000 years) with beetroots.
You can catch this special menu at Cuoco starting October 17.
And where there’s dinner, there’s vodka and aquavit. Four special drinks will be whipped up by Icelandic mixologist Tóta and Seattle-based Jonny Spielsinger.
This is just a taste of activities planned to get you primed for a Nordic island visit. You can find a listing of all events, including a free concert by Icelandic dark wave/synth punk all-female band, Kælan Mikla, at Iceland Naturally.
