SXSW Film & TV Festival has unveiled its closing night selection, announcing Daniel Minahan’s romantic drama “On Swift Horses” will wrap up the 2025 edition. The Sony Pictures Classics release, starring Daisy Edgar-Jones, Jacob Elordi, Will Poulter, Diego Calva, and Sasha Calle, joins previously announced opening night film “Another Simple Favor” and TV premiere “The Studio” in anchoring this year’s lineup.

Based on the screenplay by Bryce Kass, “On Swift Horses” follows Muriel (Edgar-Jones) and her husband Lee as they are about to start a promising new chapter in their lives. Their plans are disrupted by the unexpected arrival of Lee’s brother, setting Muriel on a clandestine path of horse race gambling and the discovery of unexpected love.

This final programming announcement rounds out an impressive slate for SXSW 2025, which will showcase 111 features, including 90 world premieres, three international premieres, three North American premieres, four U.S. premieres, and 11 Texas premieres. The fest will also be screening 57 short films and 19 music videos to complete the film lineup.

On the television front, SXSW is presenting 17 TV projects, including six TV premieres, four TV Spotlight selections, and seven independent TV pilots. Additionally, the fest’s XR Experience Program will feature 32 projects, split between 15 XR Experience Competition entries and 17 XR Experience Spotlight selections.
