Seattle International Film Festival Announces 2021 Virtual Lineup
SIFF closing night film 'Rosa’s Wedding'

Seattle International Film Festival announces its slate of films for its upcoming fest.

Known as being the largest film festival in North America, SIFF, like many other festivals, was canceled in 2020.

Current progress on the pandemic aside, its still too early to swing open the theater doors to packed houses of screenings.

So, Seattle International Film Festival is back in 2021, virtually. Good news for everyone who has grown accustomed to not changing out of their PJ’s.

The fest runs from Thursday, April 8th to Sunday, April 18th. Not quite the 25-day marathon that moviegoers have trained for in years past. But, SIFF still manages to pack a punch.

In fact, 219 films will unspool before the festival closes, including 93 feature length films and 126 shorts.

Opening night at SIFF is always highly anticipated, and this year is no different. The Dry, based on Jane Harper’s award-winning novel, looks to be a moody murder mystery, so dim the lights and settle in.

If you are looking for a Seattle angle, SIFF is screening Potato Dreams of America. An autobiographical comedic feature from Seattle-based Wes Hurley, this film is a continuation of his 2017 short, Little Potato – which picked up a Jury Prize at SXSW that year.

Hurley is also the creator of the 2014/2015 CapitolHill web series, which featured Seattle drag icons Waxie Moon, BenDeLaCreme, and Jinkx Monsoon.

His latest effort also sprinkles in some other Seattle notables. Keep an eye out for comedian Emmet Montgomery who brings us Weird and Awesome. Artist and musician Clyde Petersen also gets some screen time.

You can catch the full SIFF film lineup here. Individual tickets, which go on sale tomorrow, can be had at SIFF.net/festival.
