Salt & Straw Scoops Into Queen Anne With Stowell Collab

Queen Anne is about to get a serious sugar rush. On Friday, August 29 at 11 a.m., Salt & Straw opens its newest Seattle shop across from How to Cook a Wolf. And the first 50 people in line are walking away with more than just ice cream— each of those guests will get a free Caffè Vita cold brew plus a tote bag stuffed with local treats. Get there early, because trust me, this place is going to blow up.

The opening marks the second stop in the ice cream company’s Seattle takeover: Redmond got its shop in July, Bellevue and Pike Place are coming later this year.

Ahead of the grand opening, Salt & Straw co-founder Tyler Malek will team up with Ethan Stowell for a weeklong flavor mashup at How to Cook a Wolf  (August 22–28). Today at the media preview, Stowell was already in motion—prepping charcuterie, plating delicate crudos, and delicious sweet treats. While everyone lingered over the perfectly seasoned, melt-in-your-mouth seafood “slices” Stowell grinned and asked, “Is anyone ready for more crudo?” It was a classic Stowell move. No one said no. Seconds later, fresh plates landed on every table.

Then came the main act: his Salt & Straw collab. Guests crowded around the prep counter as Stowell built the “How to Wolf a Cookie,” layering Salt & Straw’s Arbequina Olive Oil ice cream between crisp cookies. It was part show, all dessert. And because Stowell doesn’t do things halfway, he followed it with an affogato – Sea Salt with Caramel Ribbons ice cream drowned in a hot shot of espresso. Sweet, decadent, and the perfect end to an afternoon of indulgence. If you want to get your hands on one (or both) of these treats, you have a week’s window to do so, as How to Cook a Wolf will be serving them up from August 22–28, only. Don’t miss out.

Once Salt & Straw opens, Queen Anne locals can get in on a back-to-school special from September 2–5 where you can buy a double scoop, and snag a kids’ scoop for free – just show a school ID or sport school merch.

Expect all the usual Salt & Straw staples plus the new Apple Series, running through October 2. The lineup pays tribute to apple cider in five classic fall flavors, including two Washington collabs: Apple and Cheddar Cinnamon Rolls made with Beecher’s Handmade Cheese and a Hoppy Apple Sorbet crafted with Finnriver’s dry-hopped cider.

Salt & Straw Queen Anne will be open daily from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. at 2201 Queen Anne Avenue North—plenty of time for both afternoon cones and late-night pints.
