Rising Star Noah Haidu Celebrates Keith Jarrett’s Legacy at Jazz Alley
Get ready to hear a rising star, as pianist Noah Haidu takes the stage at Dimitriou’s Jazz Alley for two nights, May 21st and 22nd. Haidu won’t be alone though, he’ll be joined by two jazz giants: bassist Buster Williams and drummer Lenny White.
The trio, headed up by Haidu, celebrates the 40th anniversary of Keith Jarrett’s iconic Standards Trio, a group that redefined the genre. The set will lean heavily on Haidu’s own 2023 album, “Standards,” which pays homage to Jarrett’s influential group. The “Standards” release by Haidu has been recognized as one of the best albums of the year.
The Trio
Unquestionably accomplished, Haidu continues to make waves among his peers in the jazz scene, while his bandmates are established and sought after names in the jazz world, each boasting decades of legendary careers. Drummer Lenny White is a true pioneer, often credited as a “founding father” of jazz fusion. In fact, White was only 19 years old when he recorded the album “Bitches Brew” with his hero Miles Davis. White also worked with the legendary Chick Corea’s band Return to Forever in the 1970s.
Bassist Buster Williams brings his own wealth of experience to the stage. A veteran of the scene, Williams has played alongside jazz icons like Herbie Hancock, guitarist Larry Coryell, and vocalists Nancy Wilson, Betty Carter, and Sarah Vaughan. Williams recently celebrated his 80th birthday with the release of a new album, “Unalome,” which also features White on drums.
This two-night stand is a great opportunity to experience the legacy of Keith Jarrett’s Standards Trio reinterpreted by a talented young pianist, and two living legends on the scene. Visit Jazz Alley for additional information.
