Pop-Up Alert: Chef Shota Nakajima Rolls Out Special Menu for Viewing Party

It seems like Chef Shota can’t get enough of cooking competitions, and his fans can’t get enough of his food – or his charm. He was voted Fan Favorite by the public, after all, in Season 18 of Bravo’s Top Chef

Between” Top Chef,” “Iron Chef,” and “Beat Bobby Flay,” Nakajima has been keeping busy going head-to-head with other chefs across the country. In his spare time you can find him in Seattle running his Japanese Detroit style pizza joint Kōbo, and Taku, a bar known for its F*ck It Bucket of chicken nugs.

 Scratching his latest competitive itch, Nakajima faces off with 31 other chefs in Guy Fieri’s “Tournament of Champions.” Airing on the Food Network, season 4 of TOC is said to be the wildest yet.

The Belt and the Loot

After battling it out with with other top talents, the winner gets to don the Tournament of Champions Belt – a decidedly impressive piece of hardware. But what’s even more impressive is the $100,000 cash prize the winner gets to take home.

TOC premiered on February 19 and airs on Sundays during the eight week competition.

Chef Shota is clearly still in the game at this point. In fact, some have even pegged him as a potential upset who has a shot at the belt – and the loot.

On March 12, Nakajima will be on hand at Kōbo (inside the Redhook Brewlab) to offer up a special pop-menu during the viewing party. Preorder from the special menu and enjoy one-night-only snacks while cheering on Nakajima on the nearby screens. 

One dish that makes an appearance on the episode also finds its way on to the special menu. Nakajima shares his take on the Short Rib – teriyaki short rib, butternut squash, yuzu kosha tomato sauce, scallion, cilantro and Thai basil. He’s also serving up Kimchi Pork for the viewing party – crispy pork belly, diced pineapple, kimchi, pickled chili, finished with cilantro and scallions.

A limited Kōbo menu will also be available to order from the night of if you miss out on the preorder, or just feel like keeping your plans loose.

TOC hits the screens at 8pm, but you’ll want to arrive early as this viewing party is sure to be a draw for Nakajima’s many fans.
