Pike Brewing Forms Stronger Bonds With Pink Boots Beer
Stronger bonds are often formed over a pint of beer. But at Pike Brewing, Stronger Bonds is the pint of beer.
With International Women’s Day just around the corner (March 8), Pike Brewing has released its Stronger Bonds, Pink Boots beer. These suds were brewed up in support and celebration of Pink Boots Society – an international collective of women in the brewing industry.
Fittingly, Pike’s head brewer, Leslie Shore is behind this juicy double IPA.
“I first got involved with Pink Boots in 2012,” said Shore in a release. “Every year the organization grows to accept, educate, and promote women and non-binary individuals within the fermented beverage industry. It’s important for me to be a member, as finding your niche and a career in any industry is a challenge and when you don’t see anyone that looks like you it can be intimidating.”
Shore’s creation is part of a series of special beers being created and released this month across the globe. From Alaska to New York, and from New Zealand to Spain, members from Pink Boots local chapters are mashing, separating, boiling and fermenting their own brew in celebration of International Women’s Day. A percentage of the sales from the special beers go towards scholarships and continuing education.
For all the beer nerds out there, Shore used Amarillo, HBC 843, Idaho 7, Mosaic, YCH Pink Boots Blend ’22, and Sabro hops to create Stronger Bonds. 8.2% 4 SRM 35 IBU. If that bit of information is a bit over your head, let’s just say that Stronger Bonds has notes of guava and passionfruit supported by a light malt body.
If you aren’t near Pike Brewing on March 8, there’s no need to worry. Stronger Bonds will be available there on draft for the entire month of March. You can also find Stronger Bonds at the Pike Taproom, and select retailers in the Puget Sound.
Zeeks Pizza in Seward Park is also getting into the action with a Pike Brewing Tap Takeover on March 8. Stronger Bonds, along with other Pike pints, will be available for 5 bucks with 10% of proceeds benefiting Pink Boots Society. If you stop by between 4-7pm, brewers from Pike will be on hand to talk about beer all you want. Plus, swag!
Adjacent to Seattle’s Pike Place Market, Pike Brewing is located at 1415 First Avenue in Seattle.
