Photos: The Kentucky Derby at Hearth with Maker’s Mark
Another Run for the Roses is in the books. The Kentucky Derby had more pre-race drama than usual, but when “My Old Kentucky Home” was played and the 20 thoroughbred horses lined up at the gate, all of that was set aside.
Of course, you can’t have a proper Kentucky Derby without the hats, seersucker suits and a refreshing Mint Julep. There was no shortage of Derby accouterments on hand at the special viewing party on the outdoor patio of Hearth, the cozy restaurant at Heathman Hotel in Kirkland. And, for the Mint Juleps? Hearth partnered with Maker’s Mark to make sure race fans were adequately outfitted with the official drink of the Kentucky Derby.
Congratulations to Mage for his 2-minute gallop during the one and a quarter miles race. And, the $3 million purse ain’t that bad either.
Here’s a look at some of the viewing festivities at Hearth as the 149th Derby unfolded.
