Photos: Rasai Kicks Off Summer À La Carte Style
As June kicks off with its perfect Seattle weather, Rasai is giving us all a reason to up our outdoor brunch plans. Starting this month Rasai has rolled out their seasonal à la carte menu for lunch and dinner through the week and for Brunch on Saturday and Sunday.
The idea behind Rasai’s latest menu is to bring a bit of high Indian street food to Fremont. And, since we are in Seattle, expect some Pacific Northwest influences as well.
We got a sneak peek at the new offerings during a recent brunch. And, it did not disappoint.
One of the standouts was the Shrimp Appam, with a nod to Kerala, a state on India’s Malabar Coast. Perched on a fermented lentil thin pancake, the Southern-Indian shrimp curry was pleasingly piquant. And, off the coast of Goa, the Goan’s Fisherman Curry was a savory concoction of seafood stew in coconut and curry leaf sauce.
The new à la carte options are a departure from their set tasting menu. There have been plenty of restaurants that moved to a tasting menu over the last several years. But, another highly acclaimed restaurant, TOMO, also just announced they were adding à la carte dining options in addition to their once exclusive dinner tasting menu. Could we be seeing the start of a trend?
It’s still too early to tell, but the Brunch at Rasai is certainly a welcome step in that direction.
