Noir City Film Festival Returns to SIFF with Focus on Noir’s Leading Ladies
"Murder, My Sweet"

Noir City Film Festival makes its anticipated return to Seattle this February. This marks the 17th year for the fest at SIFF with an impressive lineup celebrating the women who shaped film noir’s golden age. The 2025 edition will showcase 18 classic films at SIFF Cinema Downtown, focusing its lens on the actresses who defined the genre.

Fans of film noir are in for a treat as twelve of the films will be presented in pristine 35mm format, including the Film Noir Foundation’s latest restoration of “Cry Danger.” Film lovers will also have a chance to catch the the new 4K restoration of Robert Siodmak’s atmospheric thriller “Phantom Lady.”

The “Czar of Noir,” Eddie Muller, will be on hand to guide audiences through the first weekend of screenings from February 14-16. In addition to this fest, Muller keeps busy as the founder of the Film Noir Foundation and a host for TCM. Local noir experts Vince and Rosemarie Keenan will take the helm for the remainder of the festival, running through February 20. Many of the featured films showcase actresses profiled in Muller’s book “Dark City Dames: The Wicked Women of Film Noir,” which will see a revised and expanded edition released in April 2025.

Opening night kicks off with music and a movie as the Dmitri Matheny Quintet performs classic jazz selections before the screening of “The Narrow Margin.” This marks the festival’s first time screening at the newly reopened SIFF Cinema Downtown, as it’s original venue at SIFF Cinema Egyptian has been temporary closed due to a pipe leak late last year.

The Narrow Margin, Hell’s Half Acre, The Sleeping City, Mary Ryan Detective, Out of the Past, Cry Danger, Tension, Alias Nick Beal, Caged, 99 River Street, Murder My Sweet, My True Story, Raw Deal, The Killing, Detour, Phantom Lady, The Long Wait, and Ace in the Hole.
