Tindersticks, the melancholic UK-based band, has emerged with their 14th studio album “Soft Tissue” via City Slang, marking another significant chapter in their career. The release has already garnered substantial critical acclaim, with MOJO awarding it four stars and praising the band’s ability to “arrange life’s broken pieces” and “orchestrate the chaos.” Publications from BrooklynVegan to Vogue have joined the chorus of praise, with the latter dubbing frontman Stuart Staples “the consummate baroque pop singer.”

Following a successful European tour, the band is set to embark on their first US tour in 16 years, a long awaited occasion for American fans. The tour will include stops in major cities including New York, Los Angeles, and Chicago, as well as a performance at the prestigious Big Ears Festival in Knoxville, Tennessee, scheduled for March 27-30.

Recently, the band unveiled the official video for “Soft Tissue” track “Always A Stranger,” directed by Staples himself and shot by guitarist Neil Fraser. The album follows their work on Claire Denis’ 2022 film “The Stars At Noon,” starring Margaret Qualley and Joe Alwyn, released in the US through A24. This collaboration continues a long-standing creative partnership between Denis and Staples, which began with her 1996 feature “Nénette and Boni” and has seen the band contribute distinctive musical elements to many of her films, including “High Life” and “Beau Travail.”

The release of “Soft Tissue” and the upcoming US tour represents the anticipated return for Tindersticks, reaffirming their position as masters of atmospheric, orchestrated pop.
