New York via Nashville-based musician Mark Sloan’s solo project, Slark Moan, is set to release a new EP titled The Return of Guitar Music on October 25th. Known for their multi-instrumental chops and DIY ethos, Sloan takes on nearly all instruments for this project. The EP also features production by Gordon Raphael, renowned for his work with The Strokes, Regina Spektor, and Hinds.

The Return of Guitar Music marks Slark Moan’s first release since the 2022 album, Four Horses, and includes the previously released single “Green Grass,” a collaboration with up-and-coming New York band OK Cowgirl.

Along with the upcoming release, Slark Moan has dropped a new video for the new single, “Dollhouse Heart,” directed by Diego Molina. The atmospheric track highlights Sloan’s distinctive guitar work and features the ethereal vocals of Meg Elsier.

Reflecting on the song Sloan shares, “I like the image of my heart being a dollhouse, because sometimes my emotions feel like miniaturized versions of the cosmic consciousness, and only in moments of altered perception can I see the magnitude of being a soul entangled with another soul. In those moments, I don’t feel like I have the right-sized infrastructure to house my emotions, but rather I’m a life sized human trying to fit into a dollhouse.”

The Return of Guitar Music includes:

Nervous Breakdown feat. Torres
Dollhouse Heart feat. Meg Elsier
Stinger feat. Liz Cooper
Demon Brain
Green Grass feat. OK Cowgirl
