John Davis, frontman of the power pop band Superdrag, is making some noise with his latest solo venture. Judging by the newest video, “Take My Brains Out,” the upcoming solo album “JINX” should be a stripped-down success.

The album hits the streets on September 27 via Lost In Ohio label, and should be a noteworthy addition to Davis’s discography. The album, initially conceived as a Superdrag project, took a turn when the band’s recording process hit a roadblock. Pushing through, Davis salvaged the songs for his latest solo endeavor.

“Take My Brains Out” is a preview of what fans can expect from “JINX.” The track, accompanied by Davis’s first official music video for the album, is a raw, pared-back sound that characterizes the upcoming release. Drawing inspiration from legendary three-piece bands like the Minutemen, Meat Puppets, Hüsker Dü, and Dinosaur Jr. Davis embraces a lean, no-frills rock aesthetic.

Fans can now pre-order the album and experience the video “Take My Brains Out,” getting a taste of John Davis’s latest elemental musical adventures.
