Mixy Music Monday: Caravan Palace Brings a Parisian Twist to Seattle

Get ready for a sonic passport to Paris with a distinctly modern twist. Caravan Palace, the uncategorizable French trio, is set to bring their high-energy live show to Seattle’s Showbox SODO this Friday, March 28th. The arrival of the platinum-selling group coincides with its newly released music video for the track City Cook, where you’ll hear a “tighter, punchier edit” from its original version on the groups latest release, Gangbusters Melody Club.
Formed in Paris with the initial quirky ambition of scoring a vintage silent erotic film, Caravan Palace – the core trio of Arnaud de Bosredon, Charles Delaporte, and vocalist Colotis Zoe – have a fanatical following which has translated into viral moments from artists and gamers adopting their tracks.
While the band’s recorded output is crafted by the central trio, their live performances morph into a dynamic six-piece force and delivers an immersive and hyped-up experience. Their current 24-date North American tour kicked off earlier this month in Mexico City and will weave its way across the continent before concluding in Miami next month.
Latest Release
On the surface their latest album, Gangbusters Melody Club, offers plenty of catchy, sample-driven disco tunes which makes it quite danceable. But it is also layered with a hypnotic blend of soul, swing, freaky funk, and a touch of classic French electronica, that adds to a nuanced narrative with deeper listening.
The album’s title itself is a playful nod to a 1930s radio broadcast and the now-retro phrase implying something exciting – a sentiment the band clearly embodies. “It’s funny and vintage, which sums us up,” explains Charles. “Plus, we love the word Club in that context – it evokes a secret society.”
If you’re in Seattle this Friday and looking for a fun, energetic genre-bending live experience, Caravan Palace’s performance at the Showbox SODO is the place to be. In the meantime you can check out their latest video for “City Cork” below.
