Mixy Music Monday: André 3000 is Back and in Seattle
Last year at this time, André 3000 released his debut solo album, “New Blue Sun.” The iconic rapper and one half of the legendary hip-hop duo OutKast, surprised many with his latest work. After 17 years of not recording a full-length album, André 3000 came back with an instrumental project showcasing his other talent on wind instruments, particularly the flute.
The album has been a hit with both fans and critics alike, which has led to André touring the new material across the United States. No large stadium tours here. Aptly named “New Blue Sun Live,” this tour has André performing his new material in relatively smaller venues where audiences can witness his latest musical musings in a more intimate setting.
Which brings us to Seattle. André 3000 is set to bring his latest sounds, blending elements of jazz, ambient, and experimental music, to the city this week. On October 9, André 3000 will take the stage at the Paramount Theatre. He’ll no doubt bring along an array of wind instruments to create soundscapes that are a far cry from his OutKast days but no less captivating.
Beyond music, André remains involved in various creative outlets, including fashion and occasional acting roles. However, his current focus is clearly on this musical tour. If you’re in the area on Wednesday, this show stands as a must-see event.
Although this is the first full length release from André 3000 in over 15 years, that hasn’t stopped him from doing some pretty dope collabs along the way. Check out this video from Killer Mike released last year featuring André 3000 and Future.
