Indulge in National Caviar Day From Coast to Coast
National Caviar Day is right around the corner. If you’re looking for an excuse to indulge in some of the most luxurious caviar experiences – this is it!
That said, every day is a great day for caviar – celebrate when you can, but make it official on July 18.
From Coast to Coast
We are Seattle based, so of course we love taking in scoops of caviar in our hometown, starting with the perfect presentation at one of our favorite hangs in Belltown, Roquette. Their Horns of Plenty pairs Osetra Caviar with Bugles (yes, those bugle shaped corn snacks from General Mills) and Crème Fraîche. If you want to go big, throw in a bottle of Laurent Perrier Grand Brut or Ruinart Blanc de Blancs.
Renee Erickson’s Barnacle, aka as the Italian aperitivo bar tucked into the marine supply building, always offers oysters on the half shell. But on the 18th, why not add a scoop of paddlefish caviar to make things even more luxurious.
Altura offers caviar as part of its much sought after tasting menu. The Stuzzichini Aperitivo comes with beet sponge cake, sea bream, squash blossom, Favetta Ossertra caviar, fermented potato and a nasturtium as part of your first bite. Or try the Canlis tasting menu where as part of the first course you’ll enjoy Sablefish prepared with hazelnut, yuzu, and the star of the day – caviar.
And Holly Smith at Cafe Juanita never disappoints. Her optional add-on course is white sturgeon caviar paired with Bonilla a la Vista Patatas Fritas, and creme fraîche.
Wanna celebrate en casa? Head to the Seattle Caviar Co. There you’ll find all the caviar your heart desires including Belgian Osetra, Idaho White Sturgeon, Siberian Sturgeon, Paddlefish and Ikura. And you’ll want to pick up some Bellwether Farms Crème Fraîche to top it all off.
With so many choices, settling on the perfect caviar may be a daunting task. Luckily, Seattle Caviar Co. offers a starter kit – the Petite Caviar 101. You’ll leave with .5 oz. each of the Golden Whitefish, Chum Salmon Ikura, Paddlefish, Siberian Sturgeon, Idaho White Sturgeon, Israeli Osetra and Belgium Osetra.
Caviar Elsewhere
A little further down the coast inside the Fairmont Century Plaza, Lumiere Brasserie is celebrating National Caviar Day with an add on of Petrossian Royal Osetra Caviar to its decadent Le Grand Selection featuring crab, oysters, prawns, and lobster.
Of course, the D.C. area is dripping in caviar. Visit Ellington Park Bistro in the St. Gregory Hotel and savor East Coast Wellfleet Oysters with caviar aka ‘Oyster & Pearls.’ They also have the “Caviar Bite” with Pommes Anna, crème fraîche, Kaluga caviar, and chives. And if you want more just ask for the delectable deviled eggs with jumbo lump crab meat and caviar.
In New York? Visit Nubeluz, a cocktail haven perched on the 50th floor of The Ritz-Carlton for High Tea service that features caviar alongside other sweet and savory treats. Caviar bumps of osetra are also not out of the question.
At the Lotte New York Palace, their Summer Bar offers a unique opportunity to celebrate National Caviar Day with a Caviar Picnic for Two by Caviar Russe. Enjoy spritz cocktails and premium caviar in a picturesque outdoor setting.
Island hopping? Make a stop at The Ritz-Carlton, Grand Cayman where Chef, Eric Ripert, shares his celebrated mastery at Blue, the AAA Five Diamond restaurant in the resort. Tuck into Ripert’s take on salmon paired with caviar and veal tongue plus horseradish emulsion. Or try the Dorade & Beef – a beef Roulade with Dashi Gelee, Kombu-Citrus Crème Fraiche, and caviar.
No matter your preference, or your location, there’s a spectacular way to celebrate National Caviar Day in style.
