Highland Park Meets Briny Bivalves: The Perfect Pairing of Scotch and Oysters
Highland Park Brand Ambassador and all around spirit superstar, Jamie Buckman, pulled out all the stops last week at a USBG event that had an intimate group of lucky sippers taking in the ultimate pairing of Scotch and oysters. It was a typical sun-drenched afternoon on the expansive deck at Bell Harbor in South lake Union – a perfect setting for a little scotch and some shucking.
The whisky tasting was led by Highland Park’s Senior Global Brand Ambassador, Martin Markvardsen, and Master Whisky Maker, Gordon Motion. Their first time in Washington State, the duo laid out an impressive line-up and exploration of Highland Park’s 18, 21, 25, and 30-year expressions.
If the whiskey wasn’t enough, Chef Ray Ramirez of Le Coin and The Garrison hosted an oyster shucking class to complement the spirits at hand. A sunny afternoon, single malt scotch whisky, and briny bivalves – you couldn’t ask for more. But there was more, as we all left with our own custom oyster knife and shucking glove.
