GoGo Penguin Makes Jazz Alley Debut: Don’t Miss Out

English break-beat trio GoGo Penguin is rolling into Seattle with their blend of jazz, rock, and electronica. They settle into Jazz Alley during a four night stand starting this Thursday, June 20. This marks GoGo Penguin’s first gig at Jazz Alley as they swing by in support of their most recent full length release, Everything Is Going to Be OK.

If you are familiar with this trio, you likely know pianist Chris Illingworth and the commanding presence on double bass, Nick Blacka. But there’s a relatively new kid in town when it comes to drums. A couple of years back, Jon Scott took the helm behind the set after original drummer, Rob Turner, split over creative differences. Scott waisted no time, and with his propulsive style he has become an integral part of the trio adding a new dimension to the band’s sound.

Known for playing jazz with a hint of classical influence and plenty of experimentation thrown in, this trio is sure to blow you away. They’ll undoubtedly break the rules, playing around the melodies on top of driving rhythms and sonic undertones. What they bring will be unexpected – but you’re sure to love it.

Jazz Alley will host GoGo Penguin for four nights, offering a total of six shows. Showtimes are at 7:30 pm on Thursdays and Sundays, with double sets at 7:30 pm and 9:30 pm on Fridays and Saturdays. Doors open at 6:00 pm on Thursdays and 5:30 pm on Fridays through Sundays.

Tickets for GoGo Penguin’s debut at Jazz Alley are available for purchase online or by phone. Don’t miss out!
