From SXSW to the Peacock – Get Ready for ‘Mrs. Davis’ and the Nun
Finally, Peacock’s anticipated original series, Mrs. Davis finds its way to the streamer this Thursday.
But, the nuns have not been resting as they wait to battle Mrs. Davis and Artificial Intelligence in their upcoming debut. It’s a herculean task, but if anyone can do it, my money is on the nuns.
Last month Mrs. Davis premiered at a sold out screening at SXSW Film & TV festival. The first two episodes were screened for a standing room only crowd at the Stateside Theater. Leading up to its big reveal that week, the creative minds behind Mrs. Davis sat in on a couple of SXSW panels to discuss the future of tech and entertainment.
But the nuns seemed to be the busiest during SXSW. All week, a crowd of nuns roamed the streets and venues at SXSW. From the Austin Convention Center to the often packed Rainey street, a saintly group of nuns could be spotted taking part in the festivities and promoting Peacock’s latest fare.
Nuns takeover
It was just one of many film and TV activations taking place around Austin that week. But the nuns made good use of their time as they were spotted snapping selfies, bull riding, and shopping for boots.
They even stopped by Darwin’s Piano Bar for a takeover – and their set list made perfect sense. Madonna’s “Like A Prayer,” George Michael’s “Faith” and Aretha Franklin’s “(You Make Me Feel Like) A Natural Woman” brought the crowd to their feet. Of course there was a social media component to all of this nunfoolery as festival goers had a chance to win prizes from Peacock by posting nun pics to their social feeds.

The first four episodes of Mrs. Davis will be available immediately April, 20 on Peacock. After that, you can catch their antics over the remaining four episodes that will hit the streamer on a weekly basis.
