Foo Fighters Fandom Unleashed in SXSW Teaser Trailer
Foo Fighters fandom unleashed in SXSW teaser trailer ahead of North American Premiere
Several years back, fans of the Foo Fighters united in a small town in Italy.
Literally.
In 2015, 1,000 musicians joined forces to make a video addressed to the Foo Fighters. Their target audience was the five band members.
Message Heard
They would have been happy if their message only reached the original five – Dave, Chris, Nate and Taylor. But, the video went viral, and has been seen by more than fifty million fans worldwide.
And now, with the new documentary, We Are The Thousand, you get a backstage look at how it all went down.
Getting its North American Premiere next week at SXSW, We Are The Thousand, is directed by Anita Rivaroli. Rivaroli was initially brought on board to make the initial Rockin’ 1000 video. Collecting so much material and backstory during the process ultimately led Rivaroli to helming this doc.
Was the video persuasive enough for the Foo Fighters to make the trip to the small town of Cesena, Italy?
The doc, We Are The Thousand, should be equally persuasive for all those with dreams of making that special connection between artist and fans.

There is no shortage of music-related fare at SXSW 2021. In addition to live streams of bands throughout the fest, SXSW kicks off with Demi Lovato: Dancing with the Devil. The fest will also close with music – a documentary focused on popstar, Charli XCX.
And, for those Tom Petty fans out there, here’s one for you. Tom Petty, Somewhere You Feel Free, gets its premiere at SXSW. The doc uncovers newly discovered 16mm film of Petty working on his 1994 record Wildflowers.
SXSW kicks off March 16 and runs through March 20.
