Dick’s Drive-In Flipping Burgers for 19 Cents
Dick’s Drive-In is celebrating their 66th anniversary by flipping back the price on its burgers to just 19 cents each. It was Jan. 28, 1954 when Dick Spady opened his eponymous burger shop in Wallingford. Seven locations and 66 years later Dick’s remains a Seattle darling for the young and old alike.
To that point, Dick’s has taken on a pop cult status, of sorts. Rapper Sir Mix-a-Lot featured Dick’s in his 1988 song “Posse on Broadway.” While in 2013, rapper Macklemore created a star-struck ruckus when he shot part of his “White Walls” video on the roof of Dick’s Capitol Hill location.
Although the anniversary date falls on January 28, the folks at Dick’s knows that burgers at 19 cents will generate a lot of excitement. With that in mind, they have spread out the anniversary deal over their seven locations on specific days.
Dick’s Drive-In 19-cent burger deals
January 28: Broadway and Wallingford
January 29: Lake City, Holman Road, Queen Anne
January 30: Edmonds, Kent
While the cheeseburger and hamburger are offered at roll-back prices, all other menu items stay unchanged. So, while you may have paid 21 cents for a shake back in 1954, the hand dipped and whipped creation will cost you just under three bucks today. Believe me – still well worth it at that price!
And while you’re at it, consider leaving that 81 cents in change behind. In 1998 Dick’s started a Change for Charity program. Since its inception, Dick’s customers have donated over $2 million to partner charities who help the homeless in our community. Those pennies can add up and make a difference. More info on the nonprofit partners can be found here.
The 19-cent deal is limited to one hamburger or cheeseburger per customer. Dick’s is truly one of Seattle’s late night joints where you can grab a burger seven days a week until 2:00 a.m.
