Chef Update: Edouardo Jordan joins ‘Raising the Bar’ Lineup

The night before the James Beard Foundation regales its guests over dinner, Chef Edouardo Jordan and other Seattle culinary stars join forces for a one-night-only tasting event.

It all goes down on the evening of October 3 at Block 41 in Seattle.

The event, Raising the Bar, will feature two-time James Beard Award winner Edouardo Jordan, along with other top Seattle chefs.  At last year’s Beard awards, Jordan took home Best New Restaurant in the country (JuneBaby) and Best Chef: Northwest. His other venture, Salare, was Jordan’s breakout restaurant and his newly opened Lucinda Grain Bar continues his string of successes.

Another James Beard Award winner, Felipe Hernandez, was also recently added to the evening’s mix. Hernandez is renowned for his destination-worthy tamales at Los Hernandez Tamales in Union Gap.

Raising the Bar puts guests alongside top Seattle chefs for conversation and tips (not to mention great food and drink) on creating sustainability in the food world.

Jordan and Hernandez Joined by other Top Culinary Talent

In addition to Jordan and Hernandez, all-star chefs and mixologists from the area will be on hand for the night’s festivities.

As previously announced, Seattle chefs Brian Clevenger (General Harvest Restaurants), Kimberly Cosway (Heartwood Provisions), Josh Delgado (LeCoin), and Nicole Matson (How To Cook a Wolf) will be dishing up the savory bites.

Chris Elford (Navy Strength), Laara Garcia (Gold Bar), Niles Peacock (Niles Peacock Kitchen + Bar), and Amanda Reed (Heartwood Provisions) will create the cocktail magic.

The benefit dinner follows on October 4, at the Fairmont Olympic Hotel. Kwame Onwuachi, also a James Beard Award winner, and local all-star Rachel Yang of Joule and Revel, crafts the evening’s menu.
