Celebrate Summer in Seattle at First-Ever Dust Fest
Summer is in full swing in Seattle. The sun is out, the temps are a friendly 70-plus degrees, and festival season has kicked into high gear.
There is plenty of buzz this week as the MLB All-Star festivities are about to kick-off. Although we are looking forward to the many activities that come with it, there’s another festival that promises to dust up plenty of excitement.
On the heels of All-Star week, Elysian Brewing is swinging for the fences in its inaugural Dust Fest – a summertime celebration of IPA & Music.
Just south of the ball stadium, Elysian Brewing is taking over a section of Airport Way in Georgetown to throw a feel good summer party. Of course, there will be IPA’s, there will be live music and there will be plenty of food trucks on hand (Dumpling Tzar, Ma & Pops, Monster Dogs, Delfino’s , and thai-u-up!) while you soak in the suds.
Local breweries
Elysian Brewing Taproom plays host to the festivities, but there will be more than 20 other local breweries on hand showing off their hoppy brews. In all, there will be more than 60 beers that will be flowing from taps lining the stretch between S. Lucile and Corson Ave S.
Given the name of the fest, there will no doubt be plenty of opportunity to sample Elysian’s juicy, citrus forward IPA – Space Dust. Hopefully, its kindred counterpart, Dank Dust, will also come to the party.
We had a chance to taste the Dank Dust at a preview event in April when it was first being rolled out. It had all of the sweet hoppiness of Space Dust, but came with a little extra kick. It may not sport any THC in its ingredients, but the nose on Dank Dust is…well, the name says it all.
In addition to the beers that will be available in the Elysian tap room, here’s a list of other local breweries that will be on hand, along with the beers they’ll be bringing.
More than beer
Yes, that’s a lot of beer. So, if you need a break from the suds and the sun – which is highly recommended – duck into the Odd Watering Hole. There, you can hydrate with free cans of non-alcoholic Odd Water Sparkling Hop Water from Elysian.
Dust Fest also promises some solid entertainment throughout the day. It wouldn’t be summer without a hot dog eating contest, selfie stations, and the now omnipresent 180 degree photo booth. And be sure to check out Angelina Villalobos who will be painting an Elysian-inspired mural near the mainstage.
Local favorites Chong The Nomad, Sol, and i///u will be laying down their beats throughout the day and headliner American-Venezuelan singer-songwriter Devendra Banhart will close the festival.
The first ever Dust Fest takes place on Saturday, July 15 in front of the Elysian Taproom in Georgetown from 4pm to 10pm. Tickets are $35 ($40 day of) and get you a souvenir beer cup, five drink tickets (each ticket is a 4oz sample pour) and, of course, access to the music and other activities taking place.
