Alder & Ash Welcomes Diners Back to the Downtown Core
From the group that brought us the Boxyard, the expansive themed sports bar & grill across from T-Mobile Park, comes an upscale (yet casual) place to nosh and enjoy a craft cocktail in the heart of downtown.
Alder & Ash is the latest concept from the Apicci hospitality group whose work spans dozens of properties from New York City to Beverly Hills. Located at 7th and Pike, Alder & Ash fills a void on that corner which sat empty for the past three years.
As part of the Sheraton Grand Hotel, Alder & Ash offers up breakfast, lunch and dinner. In addition to visitors making their way to the convention center or other nearby events, Alder & Ash is perfect for the business crowd that have been trickling back into the downtown core.
New American Cuisine
We got a taste at a recent press preview of what Executive Chef Blake Lord-Wittig has in store for diners.
With a take on the classic Tater Tot, we were treated to Caviar Tots – a very addictive bite made of Yukon gold potatoes, crème fraiche, and keta salmon caviar. For its Ahi Tuna Tartare, Alder & Ash uses a housemade kettle chip as the base for the tuna that is mixed with crushed avocado, charred lemon soy and chives. Another irresistible bite.
The Snake River Wagyu Skirt Steak Frites was perfectly grilled and another standout. And, although we didn’t try it, you can go all “Pac Northwest” with the Grand Platter. This serving of seafood is loaded up with Puget Sound oysters, Dungeness crab, chilled shrimp, along with the tuna tartare.
The cocktails are spot on. The classic Alder Wood is a soothing mix of bourbon, Amaro Montenegro, Benedictine – with a hit of alder wood smoke to finish it all off. And for your after dinner drink? You may want to go new school with an old school cocktail – the Grasshopper. The Alder & Ash features mezcal as its base spirit and is a surprisingly refreshing take on the crème de menthe classic .
