A24 Dramedy ‘The Invite’ Scores Closing Spot at SIFF 2026

The 52nd Seattle International Film Festival (SIFF) just locked in its big finale. SIFF announced today that A24’s The Invite is officially set to close out the fest on May 17 at SIFF Cinema Downtown.

The flick stars Olivia Wilde and Seth Rogen as a married couple that are definitely experiencing a rough patch. Enter Penelope Cruz and Edward Norton as their wild upstairs neighbors with an invite to their place for a dinner party. Let’s just say things go completely off the rails.

Helmed by Wilde, the film is a San Francisco-set story penned by Rashida Jones and Will McCormack. The Invite premiered at Sundance and has built a considerable amount of good buzz, both from audiences and the critics. It even sparked a multi-day bidding war among distributors, as reported by Variety. At SIFF, the movie rolls into town with its director and star Olivia Wilde who will be here for a live Q&A right after the credits roll.

This news finally rounds out the festival bookends. We already knew Boots Riley’s I Love Boosters was snagging the opening night slot, and with six other titles already teased, the 2026 slate is starting to take shape. Now we just have to wait a week, until April 15, when the full lineup officially drops.
