Mixyplix is an independent Seattle-based publication covering arts, culture, music, film, theater, food, travel, photography, and the people and experiences that make the Pacific Northwest worth exploring.

Founded in 2017, Mixyplix is built around a simple idea: get out into the world, discover something interesting, and share the experience.

We believe the best way to understand a restaurant is to sit down and eat there. The best way to cover a concert is to be in the room. The best way to tell a story about a filmmaker, chef, musician or artist is to meet them and hear what they have to say.

That’s how we approach our coverage.

Our Approach

Whenever possible, we experience what we cover firsthand.

We go to the show. We eat the food. We walk through the exhibition. We talk with the chef, artist, musician, filmmaker, performer or organizer behind the experience.

Sometimes that results in a review. Sometimes it’s a profile, interview, photo gallery or guide.

The format may change, but the goal is the same: give readers a better sense of what something is like and a reason to check it out for themselves.

Why Mixyplix?

There is plenty of information competing for your attention. We’re not trying to cover everything. We’re looking for the things that make us stop and think, “You should check this out.”

That might be a restaurant, a concert, a film, an exhibition, a festival, a neighborhood or a person doing something interesting. The common thread is discovery: finding something worth your time and sharing it with you.

Find something interesting. Experience it. Tell the story.

About the Name

Mixyplix reflects what we cover: a mix of experiences, interests, people, places and perspectives.

We don’t believe discovery fits neatly into one category. A great meal can lead to a new neighborhood. A concert can introduce you to a new artist. A film can inspire a trip.

That’s Mixyplix.
