UPDATE: (PHOTOS) Belgian Fest Seattle 2020

Post updated with photos: Belgian Fest Seattle 2020

Taps will start to flow with Belgian-style beer on Saturday at Belgian Fest in Seattle. The beers are all crafted with Belgian yeast by some of the finest breweries in Washington. Indeed, beer lovers can expect boundless styles of brew including Tripels, Dubbels, Saisons, Wits, Abbeys and Lambics.

In its 11th year, Belgian Fest is put on by the Washington State Beer Commission. As in years past, the Belgian fest draws upon more than 70 crafted brews that are brewed in Belgian yeast by more than 20 breweries across Washington State (see the full list of breweries here).

Day of discoveries

You’re bound to recognize some established Seattle brewers, but will likely discover some new gems as well. To be sure, we’re excited to check out the Vie en Noir from Camp Colvos Brewing (Vashon Island). This tarty and hearty ale (ABV 6.8%) is a black Saison, aged on black currents and dried fruit. This will not be our only discovery!

Belgian Fest has had to change venues several times over the years as it has grown in popularity. But, they are back again in their comfy confines of Fisher Pavilion at Seattle Center.  If you are a morning person, you may want to consider the first session which runs from 1 – 4:30pm. Or, if you are a night owl, you can enjoy your beverages during the second session starting at 6:30 and running until 10pm.

Tickets for either session are $40 in advance ($45 at the door) and include a commemorative tasting glass along with ten 4 oz. tastes. You can bring your own pretzels (or other munchies) to snack on in between tastes. But, if you forget your pretzel necklace, Dante’s Inferno Dogs and other perfectly paired food vendors who will be set up and selling on site.

Of course, this is a 21+ event. And although Dante’s Inferno will have (hot)dogs, please keep your Fido at home – unless they are a registered service dog. In addition, please drink responsibly. Belgian fest offers a $5 designated driver ticket which includes soda for those not tippling the Tripels.
