Death Cab for Cutie and Turnstile to Headline Bumbershoot 2026

We haven’t even reached Memorial Day, so the thought of Labor Day my not be the foremost in your mind. But Bumbershoot just dropped their music lineup and it already has us fast-forwarding to September as the Seattle Center will once again host Bumbershoot this Labor Day Weekend. Now in its 53rd year, the festival continues to program under its newer, more compact operational model. The 2026 lineup leans on a mix of indie rock, alternative hip-hop, and underground electronic acts.
Death Cab for Cutie is set to headline the weekend. The Seattle band’s appearance coincides with the rollout of their next studio album, I Built You A Tower, their first release since signing with ANTI- Records. Baltimore hardcore band Turnstile also takes a top spot on the bill, touring behind their 2025 album Never Enough.
Japanese Breakfast, Bikini Kill
The middle of the lineup for Bumbershoot features several established touring acts from the indie and pop circuits. Michelle Zauner’s Japanese Breakfast and Devonté Hynes’ Blood Orange project are both scheduled, alongside the masked country performer Orville Peck and UK electronic duo Chase & Status.
A significant portion of the bill focuses on catalog acts and milestones. Bikini Kill will bring their influential punk catalog to the festival, alongside a performance from alternative hip-hop veterans De La Soul. Chicago rapper Noname is also booked for a set marking the 10th anniversary of her 2016 mixtape, Telefone.
The lower half of the poster contains a variety of international and experimental bookings. Organizers have scheduled Belarusian post-punk trio Molchat Doma, avant-pop artist Yves Tumor, and Japanese vocal group ATARASHII GAKKO!. Electronic music bookings include veteran producer TOKiMONSTA and Los Angeles post-punk outfit Sextile.
The PNW
Local Pacific Northwest artists make up the remainder of the announcement. Seattle hip-hop is represented by Travis Thompson and Oblé Reed, while the bottom lines feature younger regional acts like Bexley, Anthers, and Daughters of Venus. Further details regarding the festival’s visual arts installations and food programs are expected later this summer.
