Montreal musician Alix Fernz is back with new music and a striking video for “HaHa!”, the first single from his upcoming album Symphonie publicitaire sous influence, out October 17, 2025, on Mothland. The track mixes punchy drums, buzzing synths, and a warped piano line to create something playful and tense at the same time.

In the video for “HaHa!,” Fernz turns chaos into performance art. The clip captures the feeling of being caught between fun and frustration, with Fernz using vivid color, movement, and a bit of mischief to bring the song’s mood to life.

The full album, Symphonie publicitaire sous influence, continues Fernz’s mix of post-punk, new wave, and experimental pop. Across its ten tracks, he digs into the tension between glamour and decay, between life lived in the spotlight and the burnout that comes with it. The songs hit heavy with pulsing rhythms, sharp guitars, and synth tones that feel straight out of an ‘80s sci-fi movie.

Fernz says the album reflects what he sees and feels in the nightlife around him. Many of the songs draw from his own experiences in bars, where he noticed how addiction and the pressure to look perfect shape people’s lives. He also drew inspiration from Derek Jarman’s 1978 film Jubilee, which follows British punk icons struggling to find their place in a crumbling society. The lyrics touch on addiction, social struggles, rebellion, and mental health, showing both the beauty and the flaws of city nightlife.

To make the album, Fernz teamed up with co-producer Nicolas Dubé (Stoylov), bassist Vincent Lemay (Vincent Paul, Allô Fantôme), and drummer Juan Espitia (Rau_Ze, Choses Sauvages). Mixing and mastering were handled by Kenneth Gilmore.
