For this week’s Mixy Music Monday we are highlighting three Icelandic artist who will roll through Seattle as part Taste of Iceland. You can catch them all in one night at Reykjavik Calling: Iceland Airwaves Off-Venue at the KEXP Gathering Space. The music kicks off on Thursday, October 3 at 7:00pm

Lúpína

Lúpína, the solo project of Nína Solveig Andersen, hit the Icelandic music scene in 2022. With her Icelandic lyric-focused Scandi pop, Lúpína’s singles and albums over the past two years have continued to build a fervent audience. Her music and songwriting blends genres and has earned her notice and awards including a win for Song of the Year at the Reykjavík Grapevine’s Music Award. Her most recent full-length album, ‘marglytta,’ dropped just this past week.

Sunna Margrét

Sunna Margrét, former lead singer of Bloodgroup, started her music career as an Iceland native. Jazz was a big influence in the early days, but after relocating to Switzerland to study art, Margrét started to experiment with creating more of a free-spirit vibe with her music. It’s that eclectic sound that earner her a nomination for the prestigious Kraumur Music Awards in Iceland. Here latest work, ‘Finger on Tongue,’ marks the release of her debut full-length album

DJ Hermigervill

And, Taste of Iceland would not be complete without DJ Hermigervill spinning Icelandic beats. Well known and sought after by other artists for his producing and composing creds, Hermigervill has collaborated with some of the top Icelandic artists resulting in numerous chart-topping hits. He is also on a mission to revive forgotten Icelandic musical treasures and introduce them to today’s audiences.
