Stoup Brewing Opens in Kenmore

Stoup Brewing has been a Ballard darling for years. And now, folks up north in Kenmore are going to get to experience some of their sensational suds. Add best in class brew pub bites by Chef Jason Stoneburner and Kenmore has a winner on its hands.

While not a ‘match made in heaven’ the Weimann Maclise partnership is simpatica.  This sleek new modern pub is located at the Hangar at Town Square.

Its build out is replete with a taproom, retail shop and an open air kitchen. From the kitchen, plates and pies will be coming out of a stone hearth, along with salads, snacks and soft serve treats as well.

Crowd Favorites

The taproom will be pouring pints and growlers full of crowd favorites. You’ll find Citra IPA, Mosaic Pale, Robust Porter and other Stoup standbys.

In addition, a constant selection of rotators like the Mothership IPA and other seasonal brews will be flowing from the 22 taps.

“Innovation has been the key to survival in the last 12 months and this partnership with Stoup is a testament to that,” said James Weimann, co-owner of Weimann Maclise whose sister restaurants include Poquitos, Rhein Haus, Sabine, Stoneburner and Macleod’s.

The ownership team at Stoup Brewing since 2013 (husband-and-wife team Brad Benson and Lara Zahaba together with Robyn Schumacher) agreed noting, “After a very difficult year, collaborating on a creative project with talented and enthusiastic new partners is a huge breath of fresh air!”

Stoup Brewing Kenmore has an extensive menu designed to eat in or takeaway. Snacks like the brewer’s pretzel, chicken wings and loaded nachos are sure to be hits with guests.

And if lighter fare is your jam, you’re in luck with the ginger kale salad dressed in chili ginger dressing. The flakey cauliflower empanadas make for a tasty light bite as well.

Pizza, burgers and beer

If you need to fuel up for the race or just enjoying a long night over beers with friends, we can highly recommend the first-rate burger served with perfect waffle fries or one of the stellar pizzas.

Our favorite was the Beer Belly with red sauce, fennel sausage, red onion, mushrooms, mozzarella. But you can’t go wrong with either the Torpedo with red sauce, crushed meatballs, provolone, mozz, roasted peppers. Or, check out their white pie with caramelized onions, roasted garlic, pepper bacon, and brie.

But don’t fill up on pizza because their chocolate sundae with chocolate stout fudge, tiny malted milk balls and whip cream is a very solid treat for kids of all ages. And if root beer is your jam, belly up for a root beer float.

“When planning this menu, I wanted to keep some crowd-favorites from Seaplane but also bring in some more beer friendly shareables like tray nachos, meatball sliders and a great burger” said Jason Stoneburner, Stoup Brewing Kenmore’s executive chef.

“We couldn’t be more thrilled with the menu,” said Brad Benson, Co-Owner and Head Brewer at Stoup Brewing, “The locally sourced ingredients and creative menu choices reflect an approach to food that Lara, Robyn and I have always admired as well as an ethos similar to our own approach to beer.”

Other libations

In addition to the Stoup beers on draft, they’ll offer wine, seasonal draft cocktails, and cider as well as malted milk shakes and root-beer floats. There is word that beer slushies will debut later this summer.

Arrive early as the 125-person dining room and 50-person outdoor patio with fire pit are sure to fill up fast. For location, hours and detailed menu visit www.stoupbrewing.com or follow on Instagram at @stoupbrewing_kenmore.
